Fleet Maintenance Manager

We are currently seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager; this role entails the management of the overall operation of the company garages as well as a light and heavy fleet of vehicles. You will have Lead Mechanics, Mechanics and Vehicle Maintenance Technicians reporting to you.

1. Plan and direct the operations of the company garage(s) and rolling assets.
2. Develop and maintain efficient shop performance standards (standard repair times (SRT’s) KPI’s, procedures (SOP’s) and policies.
3. Maintain adherence to company operations, safety policies, and develop/amend SOP’s as needed.
4. Create and assure accuracy of parts inventories and monitory cost versus budget.
5. Develop and maintain department budget to control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs.
6. Direct repair, service, and maintenance of JLE owned and leased vehicles.
7. Develop and supervise vehicle preventive maintenance schedules and process.
8. Review periodic repair procedures to ensure completeness, accuracy, and efficiency.
9. Recommend vehicles meant for replacement and arrange for necessary disposal or auction and develop and maintain a company asset schedule and all rolling stock.
10. Interview, train and discipline subordinate staff members and complete employee assessments and performance reviews/coaching sessions per company policy.
11. Be a strong leader for the company’s driver retention efforts with your entire staff through encouragement, coaching and active participation within your department and throughout the entire company.
12. The development of role descriptions for all shop personnel
13. Assess training for staff and personnel per budget.
14. Direct supervisory staff in planning of rolling stock repair and maintenance jobs.
15. Investigate in the investigation of, as requested by the Safety Department, vehicle accidents. Negotiate for any possible settlements and authorize any repairs or maintenance of company vehicles.
16. Make assessments of training needs and execute as needed per budget.
17. Prepare vehicle specifications or cost-effective execution of the company asset schedule.
18. Operate and utilize computerized tracking systems and fault codes.
19. Analyze full operating costs.
20. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Class A CDL with excellent driving record preferred.
3. Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening.
4. Five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a maintenance facility supporting Class 8 commercial vehicles.
