REQUIREMENTS:
- Plans, coordinates, and directs the activities, staffing, and operations of the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment; oversees and/or participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Fleet Maintenance goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; works to ensure that all goals and objectives are achieved.
- Coordinates and participates in the orientation, training, and evaluation program for all Fleet Maintenance personnel; provides and/or coordinates staff training; identifies and resolves staff deficiencies; fulfills discipline procedures. Oversees, updates, and maintains computerized maintenance program for the Fleet Department and oversees the development of the maintenance budget
- Directs and participates in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs, personnel, financial activity, and assigned duties; Prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary documents or correspondence to appropriate boards, groups and/or committees; coordinates Fleet Maintenance activities with GM and executive staff as required. Assures the shop area, equipment and materials are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion and assures the security of storage and repair facilities. Creates a positive working relationship with direct reports and all other team members, including GM and executive staff.
- Participates in the forecast of necessary funds for staffing, materials, and supplies relative to Fleet and maintenance. Works with and coordinates with other departments to determine operational needs and provides recommendations; prepares and assures purchases comply with equipment and vehicle specifications.
- Performs and oversees activities related to the acquisition, utilization, repair, preventative maintenance, and replacement of all vehicle fleet; assures adequate levels of personnel, supplies, and equipment to complete departmental activities; initiates, authorizes and improves requisitions for parts and supplies; coordinates response for emergency needs.
- Corrects mechanics and other maintenance workers and makes recommendations to the Lead Supervisor for disciplinary action, when necessary
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of maintenance workers
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
- Coordinates, arranges, and supervises, or provides for the completion of corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations
- Reports maintenance issues to buildings and grounds and provides a summary of maintenance recommendations to Facilities Maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to established safety, training, and quality assurance programs.
- Stays current on new technology in the Automotive and in the Transit Industry.
- Responds to and operator field reports and road calls.
- Attend training classes as required
- Perform other job-related duties, as needed.
- You Must Be Available and Flexible to Work ALL Shifts with start times between the hours of 2am and 4pm! We are a 24 hour/7 day operation.
EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 10years experience in the public or private sector is required for this position.
- Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTAA) and Para-transit regulations; and National Transit Database (NTD).
- The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, internal and external customers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required (written and verbal).
- The ability to effectively manage a team of diverse maintenance technicians.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum five years of recent experience managing fixed route or paratransit fleet with experience maintaining a fleet of 70 buses or more.
- Experience developing, implementing and maintaining a qualified maintenance program.
- Experience with Ford equivalent paratransit completion of all Automotive Service Excellence certifications (A1-A9, H8) or equivalent
manufacturer training and certifications related to vehicle operations.
