SUMMARY
The position is under the direction of the Wellness Manager. Plans, administers, and directs wellness programs for the Parks and Recreation Department by performing the following duties personally. These wellness duties include but are not limited to: maintains cleanliness of the aerobics room, spin room, and pool deck. Teach group fitness and/or water aerobics classes. Maintains proper working order of wellness equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Studies and analyzes recreational needs and resources to produce a variety of wellness programs
- Leads recreational programs to individuals and/or groups through personal participation, teaching, and staff assignments. Must have the knowledge and ability to design wellness programs for specific age groups and ability levels
- Maintains proper working order of wellness equipment by personally servicing equipment or submitting work orders for repairs
- Develops program schedules and coordinates with other staff members and maintenance staff
- Assist with setup, implementation, cleanup, and evaluation of special events, programs, and activities
- Other duties may be assigned

- Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience
- Applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in class(es) to be taught
- Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents and emails such as those pertaining to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to communicate to the public in a polite and reasoned manner.
- Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Reasoning Ability
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Should hold and maintain at least one national professional certification as a personal trainer or Fitness Instructor. Preferred certifications are ACE, AFAA, NASM, and American College of Sports Medicine
- Applicant should hold and maintain certifications in class(es) to be taught.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED are required or able to be obtained within six months of hire date
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
