NE02 Position Summary
This position delivers exceptional customer service to students, faculty, members and guests. MAJOR DUTIES
- Monitor activities within the HHPC Fitness Conditioning Center, including the free weight, circuit, and cardiovascular areas.
- Respond to members needs in a professional and courteous manner and resolve conflict.
- Demonstration of proper lifting technique and spotting facility users on free weights.
- Communicate in a polite and respectful manner at all times.
- Enforce SJC and HHPC policies and procedures and supervise usage to ensure safety.
- Explain and demonstrate proper use of all fitness equipment and answer basic exercise questions.
- Maintain organization of fitness area. Work closely with Equipment Maintenance staff to assess and tag machines that are out of order, complete work-orders, and perform minor maintenance of equipment
- Clean workout equipment, floors, oiling tracks and leather seats, empty trash, empty and restock rags.
- Clean and disinfect equipment to maintain health and safety standards.
- Answer questions promptly and accurately.
- Assist on-duty manager with opening and closing duties.
- Train and mentor new employees.
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Knowledge of best practices when working with the public.
- Knowledge of quality customer service standards.
- Knowledge of fitness equipment, weights, including cleaning and safety standards.
- Knowledge of SJC and HHPC policies.
- Knowledge of proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Skill in effective written and oral communication.
- CPR/AED certified, training provided
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The supervisor assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks work while in progress and once completed for compliance with detailed and specific instruction as well as, procedures, and accuracy of the work.
GUIDELINES
The Guidelines include HHPC Policies, San Juan College Employee Handbook, ADA regulations, and other college and program policies and procedures. These guidelines are clear and specific in their application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of routine customer service duties and cleaning. The variety of customer needs contributes to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide a clean, safe, and friendly environment for HHPC customers.

- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
- The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, and warehouse or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc. The employee is exposed to noise and machinery with moving parts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Must be certified in CPR/AED, training provided.
