POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Director/Coordinator, the Fit N Fun Leader will provide quality instruction and supervision to young Y members, teaching a fun, safe, and functionally challenging program that promotes a child's total fitness development through elements of play.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Embody and outgoing and enthusiastic personality at all times
- Must enjoy working with youth (K-5)
- Must implement age appropriate Fit N Fun physical and health education curriculum as outlined through the Y's adapted CATCH model
- Possess knowledge of wellness concepts and promote a fun, well-rounded and healthy lifestyle
- Work with Fit N Fun group to improve their self-image and progress their abilities.
- Be punctual for class. Standard expectations are to arrive 10 minutes before class to ensure program area is properly set up; and stay 5 minutes after class to answer participant questions and ensure program area is properly cleaned up.
- Knows emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment
- Keeps class attendance records
- Maintains all personal certifications, attending workshops and recertification training as needed or required
- Assists in participant recruitment and program promotions
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION -
Must have a High School Diploma. Bachelors degree in Physical Education (or working towards), or equivalent experience preferred
EXPERIENCE -
2 years minimum working with youth (K-5 preferred) in a group setting
Experience coaching/leading youth sports or physical activity programs preferred
