New York Cancer Specialists (NCYBS), a prominent and respected Oncology/Hematology group, is seeking a Fish Lab Technologist to join a well-established and growing pure sub-specialty practice with academic affiliation. Clinics from Southampton to NYC. Practice manages a freestanding outpatient 7-day-per-week Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy, and Research department.
In this role you will:
- Perform analysis of FISH slides (UroVysion, HER2, Heme FISH)
- Accurate microscopic analysis of the FISH slide
- Perform and document preventative maintenance of lab equipment
- Follow all laboratory safety guidelines, and report all concerns.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s QA/QC procedures.
- Maintain that all aspects of drawing, processing, and handling of all specimens in our laboratory are carried out in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
- Monitor integrity of patient specimen collection processes.
- Make sure chemical hygiene and lab safety procedures are being observed.
- Correct problems, and/or notify the Department Supervisor
- Research specimen requirements for reference labs.
- Enforce and follow all laboratory safety rules and report any possible hazards to the Lab Leadership
- Trouble-shoot any laboratory instruments including calling Support if needed and keeping the Lab Leadership informed of the malfunctioning of any lab equipment
We require:
- New York State Laboratory Technician license.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or related science.
- Computer skills
- Experienced preferred but not required.
Hours: Tuesday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm
Saturdays 7 am-3:30 pm
