Job Description
Foxconn Wisconsin is seeking a BMC/Firmware Engineer that will work with the customer to develop and implement Baseboard Management Controller firmware requirements. Once a part of the team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the Research and Development Department in a Manufacturing environment and have the opportunity to display critical thinking skills to expand your career in Smart Manufacturing.
The BMC/Firmware Engineer will create BMC images and release notes, work with the customer to develop and implement baseboard management controller firmware requirements, and assist this department as needed.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Work with cross-functional teams (i.e. EE, BIOS, PA, FW) to develop and deliver a successful server BMC.
- Create BMC images and release notes.
- Drive resolution of customer reported BMC and HW/FW issues.
- Working with the customer to develop and implement Baseboard Management Controller firmware.
- Use your strong development and debug skills working across multiple function teams to develop BMC SW to the customer’s specifications and to resolve challenging issues.
- Must be a team player capable of working across multiple function teams to ensure delivery of successful products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Ideal Experience Includes:
- Master’s Degree/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 1-3 plus years of experience.
- Proficiency in C, C++ language.
- Embedded Linux preferred.
- Knowledge of SoC/ARM/AST2x00 a plus.
- Experience working with AMI/Avocent SDK a plus.
- Use of IPMI 2.0 and Server hardware architecture a plus.
- A drive to creatively seek methods for optimizing BMC designs and minimizing cost.
- Must be familiar with, and able to operate, a wide range of electronic test equipment.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to evaluate the long term implications and consequences of potential solutions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to contribute ideas and insights into project decisions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required for sharing ideas with other departments and the customer.
Additional Details:
- Office-based role, fast-paced work environment.
- Travel - Approximately 15% including international travel. A valid passport, or no restriction to obtain one, is required.
- This role may require a background check to prove engineering certification.
