Job Details:The Fireman Power Plant Operator is responsible for tending boiler or boilers, maintaining correct boiler pressure and safe water level. Assists in cleaning boilers and lubrication of equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains basic boiler room records.
- Adds whatever chemicals required for boiler and fuel oil tanks.
- Changes gun or boiler or boilers whenever needed.
- Takes hourly readings on steam, oil, water, air and an all air conditioner equipment
- Checks oil and grease cups on all equipment in the power house and checks water makeup tanks and hot water circulating pumps.
- Cleans and changes fuel oil strainers on all oil lines, front and rear of boilers.
- Replaces and tightens packing glands on any valve, water glass or any equipment that may be leaking.
- Runs diesel generator and air compressor weekly to ensure they are in good operating conditions.
- Works with Power Plant foreman to clean and recondition boilers for inspection.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years' experience on high pressure steam boilers
- NYS Driver's License
