The Athol Fire Department is actively accepting applications for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic for 48 hours (two 24-hour shifts) per week plus overtime and details.
The Athol Fire Department is a combination Fire Department located in Central Massachusetts providing fire suppression, search & rescue, advanced life support, and specialized functions to the Town of Athol as well as our surrounding communities, responding to over 4,000 calls per year, over 34 square miles, with a population of over 13,000 people. The Athol Fire Department is now a non-civil service department with compensation and benefits per collective bargaining agreement with the Athol Professional Firefighters Local 1751. All applicants must:
- Be a current licensed Massachusetts/Nationally Registered Paramedic
- Have an active Massachusetts Driver’s License
- Be Over 18 years of age.
- Be able to pass a Physical Ability test.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
- Be able to pass a background investigation.
- Must be able to complete the Massachusetts Career Recruit Training Program within 1 year.

- Massachusetts Firefighting Academy graduates
