Fire Sprinkler Inspector and Repair Technician

As a reputable leader in the fire suppression and fire detection industry, United Fire Equipment Company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Inspector and Repair Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems to ensure they function properly and comply with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.

Requirements:

  • 4 + years’ experience of inspection, repairs, and maintenance of Fire Sprinkler Systems is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; additional technical certification or professional training in Fire Protection Systems is preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience of route sales and service or relevant experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience inspecting, repairing, or installing fire extinguishers is highly desirable.
  • Considerable knowledge, methods and techniques in inspection and service methods in accordance with State, Local and NFPA standards and local building codes.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with different types of fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and flood systems.
  • Must have a clean driving record as well as a clean background and drug screen check.
  • Able to regularly move and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb or balance on a ladder multiple times a day.

CERTIFICATION:

  • NICET Certification preferred

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspection and testing of Wet Sprinkler Systems and Pre-action Systems, including piping, valves, alarms, and control systems.
  • Replace existing check and alarm valves on existing risers.
  • Repair and replace defective or damaged fire sprinkler systems components such as sprinkler heads, valves, pipes, and fittings.
  • Perform 5 year valve inspections.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting system components.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing inspection findings, completed repairs, and recommendations for system improvement. Work with customers to discuss inspection results and recommendations for necessary repairs and upgrades.
  • Effectively communicate quotes, bids, and orders with customers.
  • Build and manage your assigned areas of current and future customers.
  • Keep up to date with fire codes, regulations, and industry best practices related to fire suppression..
  • Collection of all transaction types for services or products sold.
  • Exceed a monthly, quarterly, and annual production quota.
  • Work within the southeastern half of Arizona, receiving direction from the Service Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle, ensuring completion of regularly scheduled vehicle preventative maintenance.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule, answering United Fire after hour emergencies.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Day Shift
  • On-call rotation

JOB TYPE:

  • Full-time exempt
  • Pay: Compensation package includes hourly base rate and commissions with potential earnings of $58,000 to $75,000 per year
