Job description

The Fire Protection Specialist/ Estimator will become a vital contributor to the sustainable growth of PPG's Passive Fire Protection (PFP) business and team. Steel structures in the Construction, Oil, Gas and Chemicals industry need to be protected from fire, corrosion and cryogenic spills. Protecting these assets while safeguarding people is our mission. With your strong knowledge of the market and equipped with our advanced product solutions and tools, you will be able to support our Clients, Sales and Key Account Management teams to ensure optimal protection!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adaptability, tact, diplomacy, flexibility and a positive attitude to work in a fast-paced workplace. 
  • Gain knowledge of the industry, our products, and our tools to become the go-to MTO (material take off) estimator for our internal and external customers.
  • Ensure the achievement of fast (24-48hr) response on MTO requests, keep high level of communication to the experts on your team and to the clients.
  • Work within our CRM tool to respond to and maintain sales pipeline.
  • Grow your internal network to learn, get support and accelerate the above.

  • Experience in industrial construction field

  • Having a background in construction surveying/estimating

  • Good knowledge of structural and fire standards and codes

  • Ability to read and interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings

  • An understanding of structural steel

  • Understanding of general engineering principles

Qualifications:

  • A college degree or equivalent in a related engineering discipline, especially civil/structural or construction management is preferred.
  • Experience with construction surveying/estimating. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Team player.
  • Ambition and drive to learn and develop towards potential next career moves.
