Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality is seeking undergraduate (sophomore - senior) and/or graduate-level master's student to participate INL's Fire Protection Engineer Internship. Students will support the Occupational Safety and Health Department with tasks and project-based activities to include fire hazard assessment, fire loading limitations, Fire Protection system design and inspection, NFPA code assessment, and area Fire Protection surveys. Students will also support report preparation and reviews as part of an overall programmatic improvement process from field evaluations while working directly with Fire Protection professionals. The internship projects may include:
Shadowing Fire Protection professionals during fieldwork walkdowns
Supporting design reviews associated with new and modified INL facilities
Preparing Fire Protection awareness bulletins
Minimum Requirements:
Enrolled full time student status at an accredited college or university: Undergraduate/ Graduate Master's Degree Program
Seeking or earned degree in: Fire Protection, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related field
Experience or coursework in: Fire Protection, Fire Detection and Suppression, and Emergency Services
Possess a minimum overall 3.0 Grade Point Average
Have the ability to pass a background check
Possess authorization to work in the U.S.

INL Internships Overview:
INL is a science-based, applied engineering national laboratory dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Energy's mission in nuclear energy research, science, and national defense.
