Position Summary & Your Impact
Woden is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our innovative Technical Team. This role will help to manage and deliver prescriptive and performance-based Fire Protection & life safety solutions to our clients. This role will involve a wide range of fire engineering technical skills that require creativity, unconventional thinking, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
• Provide Fire Protection and life safety code consulting, based upon experience and familiarity with IBC & IFC codes and NFPA standards.
• Deliver prescriptive and performance-based design solutions to facilitate design vision through code compliance/approvals.
• Collaborate with AHJs to present design solutions and obtain feedback, buy-in, and approvals.
• Development of fire models, dynamic egress models, structural fire analysis, and smoke control rational analysis.
• Develop fire safety strategies for special hazards.
• Perform architectural design reviews and submit comments in required format.
• Perform coordinated reviews across architectural and MEP trades for Fire Protection and life safety compliance.
• Inspect facilities to identify deficiencies and make recommendations with respect to Means of Egress, Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Emergency Lighting, Fire Rated Partitions, HazMat Inventory, Storage Arrangements, etc.
• Review vendor shop drawings and equipment submittals for sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems for compliance with NFPA standards
• Review sprinkler system hydraulic calculations, hydrant flow test data, and fire pump performance curves.
• Occasional design of fire alarm, fire detection, and fire suppression systems.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Architectural, or Chemical Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is required, preferably in Fire Protection
• Minimum of 4 years professional experience post-graduation
• Physically able and willing to inspect projects in the field
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam are required; experience with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CONTAM, SAFIR, HydroCAD, FDS are a plus
Salary & Benefits
· Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000 (based upon experience and location)
· Can work remotely, or out of Boston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles Offices
