Synerfac is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for our client in Raleigh, NC. Our client has been a premier MEP/FP engineering consulting firm in DC and the surrounding states since 1963.
The bulk of our client's projects are renovations, frequently of only the MEP/FP systems. You will be regularly solving problems like how to make the equipment fit into an existing building or figuring out how the contractor will build your design.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct fire risk assessments and analyses using computer-based modeling tools
- Design and specify fire suppression systems, such as sprinklers, standpipes, and fire alarms
- Develop fire alarm and detection systems, including smoke control systems
- Prepare Fire Protection plans and design documents, including fire pump and fire hose cabinet layouts
- Analyze building and fire codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance with the latest codes and standards
- Provide technical support and consultation to clients, contractors, and project teams on Fire Protection and safety issues
- Bachelor's in Engineering, preferably Fire Protection
- Minimum 4 years in building Fire Protection, code and life safety consulting
- Experience performing sprinkler layouts and hydraulic calculations in Hydracalc or similar design software
- PE license preferred, minimum of EIT required
- Experience with DoD, government, health care, laboratories and/or universities preferred
- Experience performing field flow tests preferred
- Working knowledge of NFPA Standards and ICC Building Codes; experience with UFCs or P100 a plus
- Ability to conduct field surveys
- AutoCAD skills required; Revit/BIM experience a plusEducation: BachelorEmployment Type: FULL_TIME
