Plainsboro Township is seeking a dedicated Fire Official to join our Code Enforcement team. In this crucial role, you will play a vital part in safeguarding our community by enforcing the Uniform Fire Code and ensuring buildings adhere to fire safety regulations.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct thorough fire inspections of residential and commercial structures.
- Identify and address fire hazards, enforcing the Uniform Fire Code when necessary.
- Investigate complaints related to fire safety violations.
- Review and approve fire prevention permits.
- Collaborate with the Construction Official to integrate fire safety into building projects.
- Lead assigned inspectors and enforcement personnel.
- Investigate fires and explosions, securing potential evidence and cooperating with law enforcement if arson is suspected.
- Maintain professional qualifications through continuing education.
- Build strong relationships with the township fire department and state fire safety personnel.
What We're Looking For:
- A valid Fire Official certification.
- 5-7 years of experience in fire prevention and code enforcement.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- A valid driver's license.
- In-depth knowledge of the Uniform Fire Code and fire code administration.
- Excellent communication, customer service, planning, and organizational skills.
- The ability to identify fire hazards and determine the cause and origin of fires.
- A professional demeanor and the ability to interact respectfully with the public.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Proficiency with electronic tablets and other assigned software applications.
- The ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.

Pay: $68,429.00 - $112,936.00 per year
