Job Description
The Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician mounts, inspects, and replaces portable Fire Extinguishers and emergency exit lights. Inspection, testing, and maintenance is coordinated with the customer to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, insurance requirements, etc.
Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician job duties include:
- Perform annual Fire Extinguisher inspections.
- Exchange extinguishers due for internal inspections / hydrotesting.
- Document deficiencies.
- Maintain a well-stocked, organized service vehicle.
- Test emergency exit lights - replace batteries, bulbs, or entire unit as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Required: Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Desired: 1-3 years of industry experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass initial and random drug screenings.
- Must be comfortable working on ladders and lifts / not afraid of heights.
- Must be able to work while exposed to wide temperature fluctuations - in a hot plant or in the cold outside for example.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and in excess of 50 pounds on occasion.
