Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Technician with at least 3 years experience. All work will be in a Commercial environment- either new construction or retrofit of an existing building. In addition to building circuits, installing them, trimming, and testing, qualified candidates will be able to learn the programming piece if they have never done it before. While this position is a Fire Alarm Tech first and foremost, there is the opportunity to learn a wide range of low voltage work including cameras, access control, and more.
Top Skills:
1. Project Management- taking a project from start to finish- preferably larger projects. Being able to facilitate projects and make sure they are progressing on time.
2. 3-5 years experience with Fire alarm installation, implementation, and servicing.
3. Adept at reading/interpreting blueprints and schematics
Job Description:
Hands-on knowledge and experience with installing commercial Fire Alarms.
Demonstrable knowledge of Fire Alarm circuitry and pathways.
Knowledge of basic NEC, NFPA 72, and Fire Alarm industry standards.
Programming experience a plus, but we will train and certify technicians who demonstrate computer aptitude and desire to learn.
Must be able to read blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
Must have ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables & fiber optical cables (to include twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded & solid conductor low voltage cable, single mode & multi mode fiber optical cables).
Must be a team player with a knack for electronics and problem-solving.
Must be able to travel overnight (company paid) 1 to 3 times per month within surrounding states for 1 to 3 days/nights.
Use of small hand tools.
Use of power tools.
Heavy physical effort (usually lifting/moving up to 100 pounds).
Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
Carrying of loads up & down stairs.
Must work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Company truck, tools, gas card, and travel expenses are provided.
Technicians need their own basic hand tools (ie. screwdrivers, etc.)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
NICET Certified is a huge plus
Programming experience not necessary but is a plus
CCTV/Access Control experience is a plus
Must possess:
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record, clear criminal background, and be able to pass a drug test
Equipment/Manufacturer specific certifications a big plus.
A High School Diploma or equivalent. (Vocational/Technical/Business School strongly preferred.)
Ability to read blueprints.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to follow written & verbal instructions.
Comprehension of terminology pertaining to installation & service of telecom, data, security & wireless systems.
Positive attitude, works well with others, and can communicate positively with customers.
