Work with other craftsman or crews in the performance of assigned work duties. Coordinates work/inspections with facility managers/occupants. Must be able to troubleshoot and identify problems. Researches and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports. Makes necessary repairs to fire/duress alarm systems for compliance with specifications. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operations upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible to perform all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible to maintain a safe work environment.
- Inspects, tests, installs and modifies control panels.
- Able to use test instruments.
- Knowledgeable in analog and digital electronics.
- Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties.
- Accomplishes periodic inspections, recurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation.
- Maintains systems to conform to written guidance and applicable changes.
- Maintains required operating forms and records and assures proper use of all assigned shop equipment. Responsible for on-the-job training as required.
- Performs quality assurance through job site visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience.
- One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Able to utilize computer automated systems to perform assigned duties.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active US Government Security Clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
- Valid State driver's license required
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is primarily performed outside at construction sites in all weather conditions. Work is also performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. Frequently lifts items weighing 40-45 pounds and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
