The Fire Alarm Inspector Role:

The Fire Alarm Inspector position reports to the Fire Alarm Inspection Supervisor. The Fire Alarm Inspector works with a small team to conduct on-site inspections on various brands of Fire Alarm Systems for our clients, including K-12 public school districts, colleges and universities, government entities, and small, medium, and enterprise-level commercial businesses, many of which require stringent background clearances. This role also requires local, state, and federally-mandated inspection documentation to be completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner. Our clients are predominantly located within the state of Pennsylvania, though travel to our Reading, York, and State College offices, as well as occasional overnight travel will be necessary. Berkshire Systems Group, Inc. provides the Fire Alarm Inspector with a company vehicle w/ AAA membership, a fuel card, a company-issued laptop, a company-issued tablet, a company-issued cell phone, and all necessary tools and training to complete the job duties. Who You Are:

A highly motivated team player with a passion for Life Safety who would like to contribute to the growth of the Fire Alarm department at BSGI. You are someone who wants to provide world class service to our customers through continued education and growth in the Fire Alarm industry. The position entails:

  • Performing inspections for the maintenance of Fire Alarms, as well as occasionally security, sprinkler, and communication systems
  • Utilizing inspection software to complete documentation in accordance with company and customer contractual standards
  • Anything necessary to contribute to the success of the Fire Alarm department


Where You'll Be Located:

  • Ideally, you're located in Central, Eastern, or Southern Pennsylvania within reasonable distance to one of our three offices (Reading, York, and State College). Daily commute to one of our offices is not necessary.
  • Daily travel to customer sites primarily throughout the state of Pennsylvania, including occasional overnights, is necessary.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and good driving record to drive a company vehicle
Requirements:

What You Bring:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
  • Ability to operate a smartphone for communication, documentation, GPS, calendar, and other professional functions required
  • Excellent customer service skills to interface with clients on-site required
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills required
  • Detail-oriented focus for documentation and thorough job completion required
  • Strong organizational skills for tools, equipment, and documentation required
  • 1 year of industry-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred, but we willhireforcultural fitandtrainforexcellence
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, with ability to read/utilize a multi-meter, and use basic industry technician tools preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operating manuals preferred
  • Previous experience working with hand and power tools preferred
  • Training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness and quality systems awareness a plus
