Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform testing and inspection of Fire Alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting existing and potential deficiencies;
  2. Functionally-test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components;
  3. Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and to account managers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs;
  4. Prepare accurate and timely inspection and service reports;
  5. Collaborate with clients, technicians, and team members to coordinate inspection schedules and address any issues.
  6. Determine materials needed for repairs and order them;
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives;

Qualifications:
  1. 2 years of relevant experience
  2. High school diploma or equivalent (additional relevant certifications or vocational training is a plus).
  3. NICET I in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems or ability to pass exam within 90 days of employment

Physical and Personal Requirements
  1. Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  2. Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  3. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  4. Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  5. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  6. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  7. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  8. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  9. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  10. See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  11. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  12. Work overtime as directed by supervisor.
  13. Must be able to pass a background check.
  14. Must be able to pass random drug screening.
  15. Must have valid driver's license, good driving records to operate a MC Dean vehicle as part of this job requirement.
  16. Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.
  17. Advanced troubleshooting including researching online, system manuals to resolve problems.
  18. Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm System Theory, OSHA Requirements, and Industry Standards for Fire Alarm systems installation.
