The Green Lady, Inc. is an established fine gardening company providing meticulously detailed maintenance & design services to private coastal estate properties in Southern RI & CT for 20 years.

Full Time: M-F (6:45)7:00 - 4:00/4:30

Part Time: Hours as above - inquire on available days

***During busy demanding times of the year (MAY) as well as any scheduling impacted due to weather it may be necessary to work outside of these hours including the occasional Saturday.

Full Job Description:

The Green Lady, Inc. is seeking motivated, dedicated, positive, creative individuals who are the right fit within our existing team members for full and part time positions. Fine Gardeners will be expected to carry out daily general maintenance activities aside fellow crew members such as planting, weeding, watering, pruning, fertilization, mulch & compost applications, perennial & annual plant care in various landscape settings efficiently in a timely manner.

Essential duties:

  • Planting, weeding, watering, pruning, deadheading, mulching and various other maintenance tasks within annual, perennial and vegetable beds.
  • Daily morning discussion of assignments with owner/team leader & fellow gardeners.
  • Complete daily digital schedule, task, and record keeping via our scheduling management software.
  • Skills and Qualifications:

- Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from our Southern RI location (zip code 02832).

- Arrive to work promptly daily, preferably ahead of time to avoid morning confusion and be prepared for the days weather & tasks.

- Must be able to put down the cell phone and concentrate on the tasks at hand.

- Must be able to focus and carry out meticulous detailed work our clientele desires.

Candidates should possess or show attributes in the following:

  • A strong passion for plants, horticulture and desire to build on that knowledge.
  • A desire to maintain and provide the level of meticulous care our properties & clientele deserve as well as take pride in the work they have completed.
  • Be a self motivated, highly organized positive individual with a strong work ethic & flexibility. Have a natural problem solving skillset and be consistently aware of their surroundings.
  • Possess effective communication skills, work efficiently either alone or with other team members, with the ability to adapt to changing tasks and schedule.
  • Be efficient & adjust their work pace according to workload and job completion deadlines.
  • Provide and demonstrate excellent customer service interaction & respect, understanding our focus is on “QUALITY” not “QUANTITY”.

- Must be a team player with an enthusiasm for horticulture. Must treat others with a mutual respect, exhibit the ability to both give and take instruction, collaborate with others and support & assist other team members in such a manner that work relationships are improved and morale is increased.

- Must understand the seasonal demands and flexibility this position both requires and gives back in return.

Essential physical requirements:

- Must be physically fit, in good health and able to lift 40-50lbs regularly.

- Must be aware and capable of being on your feet 75% of the work day in multiple positions such as, but not limited to:

  • Walking, standing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, shoveling. Moving up and down slopes, stairs, ladders, uneven ground, slippery surfaces, boulder retaining walls, bluestone decking.
  • Regularly climbing in and out of truck beds as well as loading and unloading 3-4’ off the ground.
  • Reaching above shoulder height with heavy objects, pruning above shoulders for extended time periods.
  • Maintain grip and grasp on various hand tools for extended time periods.
  • Work outdoors in variable weather conditions: Light rain, various temperatures of heat & humidity, wind, cold.
  • Benefits & Compensation:
  • Typical season runs March 15 to December 15, Weather dependent & weather dictated.
