The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
- Gathers necessary demographic, insurance and clinical information from patient and enters into appropriate database.
- Seeks appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date or location of prescribed procedures.
- Explains financial responsibilities for services received, payment options and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment.
- Counsels’ patients regarding insurance benefits and recommends alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate.
- Helps patients obtain insurance through the marketplace as a Certified Application Counselor (CAC).
- Initiates process for collecting prepays due and performs follow-up to ensure maximum collection is achieved.
- Works with Finance supplying accurate information for reporting purposes.
- Works with billing coders, clinicians, and providers to ensure accurate billing.
- Reviews and processes accounts for collection; reports to Bad Debt Agency.
- Calculates accurate patient responsibility of approved assistance program.
- Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. 1-3 years of experience directly related to payor reimbursement field preferred.
Knowledge of third party payors and Federal Poverty Guidelines preferred.
Certifications / Licensure: Facilitated Enrollment Specialist prefer
