JOB SUMMARY:
This role will be crucial to analyze and plan the financial effects of investments and the expected returns. This position will play an important role in helping the Company migrate through the inflection point.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific duties include:
• Manage and update the long term financial operating model. This will necessitate strong modeling skills and understanding of the key business drivers. The model will need to be updated monthly at a minimum and more frequently during times of investment analysis. This could include working with IT Development Team to move this into an automated model.
• Update core performance curves used in the models.
• Provide financial model sensitivity analyses on various operating scenarios including performance, purchase price, investment, sources/uses, and valuation analyses.
• Learn and manage the borrowing base reporting and key loan terms.
• Provide financial analysis to investment business decisions.
• Assist the Sr. Financial Analyst with development of the annual operating plan/budget. This includes tying off to the operating model.
• Assist with due diligence on portfolio acquisitions or other M&A activity as needed.
• Update and monitor the unit economics model. This will involve understanding the core performance drivers, variable and fixed costs in the business, portfolio financial drivers, and operating metrics.
• Assist with monthly board package development including portfolio performance analysis.
• Assist CFO with specific reporting and analysis the key lender and other investors may need
KNOWLEDGE AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA is preferred. Accounting concepts very helpful.
• Preferred industry background includes financial service or industries with high volume of transactional data. Will accept candidates with experience in industries with complex transactions or analytical needs.
• Minimum of three years of experience in modeling and providing sensitivity analysis. This position will require advanced knowledge and heavy use of Excel.
• Deep understanding of corporate finance, financial returns analysis, and company capitalization structures is required
• Understanding of balance sheet and cash flow modeling including sweeping excess cash.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and the maturity to work independently and manage complex situations
• Understanding of, and experience with, the operating requirements of private businesses during growth phases.
• Proven and demonstrable analytical capabilities, experience in conducting research, advanced fundamental level of finance and accounting, and ability to extract relevant data points from imperfect sets of information.
• The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to support the creation of presentations, briefings, due diligence findings etc. Candidate will be expected to present to senior leadership, Board, investors, and lenders.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
• Will need to be able to work off hours/weekends as needed for investment analysis.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA is preferred. Accounting concepts very helpful.
· 3-7 years financial modeling experience
