Roles and Responsibility:
- The position serves as an entry-level position that is assigned to one or more specialized/smaller programs.
- The analyst performs detailed fiscal analysis for all assigned areas and serves as the primary point of contact for their assigned programs.
- The position prepares a variety of fiscal and operating reports and completes assignments in a timely manner with a quality work product.
Skills Required:
- Monitors budget utilization and expenditures.
- Researches and analyzes expenditure for the purpose of reporting fiscal position, and preparing forecasts and reports.
- Provides financial expertise to the department on financial forecasts and programmatic trends for assigned areas. Identify, research, and analyze possible impacts of proposed legislation and funding modification for assigned areas.
- Compiles expenditure, appropriation, and obligations data to monitor and interpret financial information.
- Meets with DCS Budget management to review expenditure trends, anticipated needs, and projections.
- Perform regular and ad-hoc financial, staffing, and caseload analyses and present them to Budget leadership.
- Research and analyze expenditure trends for the purpose of reporting fiscal position.
- Supports Financial Analysts II and III in developing the annual budget request by compiling historical expenditure data and estimating future costs. Gathers and validates data, confers with agency officials in order to make determinations for budget development and planning.
- Determines funding needs of assigned programs and initiates transactions including transfers, journal vouchers, expenditure corrections, and other like documents.
- Approves/oversees purchase order approvals for assigned programmatic areas.
Work Experience Required
- Experience in an office setting Previous experience with Accounting and Budget Department.
Education Required:
- High School Diploma Bachelor's Degree preferred.
