Investment Management Strategic Transformation Operations
  • Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures, and markets.
  • *** Investment Management (IM) is a critical business within *** and is a leader in the global investment management business. IM Operations supports the equity, fixed income, multi-asset, liquidity, and alternative businesses for IM, providing middle-office services including portfolio manager support, client services, portfolio transition management, market registration, product data and valuation oversight, and performance and attribution analysis, among others. IM Operations serves the firm's portfolio managers and associated teams by providing high quality support through excellence in processing, reporting, and management of strategic initiatives.
  • The Strategy and Transformation team within IM Operations is responsible for ensuring that IM Operations is ready to meet the future business needs of *** Investment Management. The team will drive the strategic transformation of MSIM Operations by partnering with MSIM operations, business leadership and key support partners. The team will define the future state business objectives and priorities, leveraging partnerships to drive the design, implementation, oversight and governance of MSIM Operations Future State Target Operating Model. Thus, ensuring MSIM Operations is a nimble, data driven, front to back organization, providing superior, efficient and sustainable operational support to MSIMs growing, complex and changing business model. The team will seek to deliver increased Operational efficiency without compromising the overall risk and control framework.
Background on the Team
  • The IM Operations Strategic Transformation Vice President who will report to the Lead engineer IM Operations Strategic transformation. The ideal candidate for this role is a person with exposure to elements of the below:
  • Experience of Operations, either in an Investment bank or Investment Manager
  • Exposure to Fund Administration, Fund Services, Transfer Agency Function, Mutual Funds, Alternative Investments, Hedge Funds, Private Investments a plus
  • Experience with large scale project management
  • Designing and defining target operating models
  • Drafting process flow maps
Job Description:
  • The ideal candidate will be passionate about changing Operations to meet the future needs of a diverse and complex business, an ability to work on multiple agendas across a broad scope of production processes while managing key stakeholders.
  • The candidate will be a strong communicator able to understands the needs of the business and deliver exceptional client service.
  • They will understand and focus on process and technology and have sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Input into definition and design of MSIM Strategic Operating model for T+1 early settlement rules
  • Perform data analysis and metrics for trading stats
  • Defining the business case for proposed initiatives, articulating the benefits, and ensuring the costs are clearly documented
  • Produce business process analysis, management reporting and supporting documentation
  • Partner with Change the Bank, Technology, and other stakeholders’ divisions to deliver on key aspects of supported projects
Skills Required:
  • Business Analysis
  • Analytical with a good understanding of what good looks like from an operations perspective
  • Collaborative skills
  • Strong communication skills, able to present concepts concisely and confidently
  • Strong Excel / PowerPoint required
  • Experience with process mapping
  • Data Analysis skills required
Top Skills:
  • Data analytics experience (Excel and Power BI being used)
  • PowerPoint experience *REQUIRED*
  • 3-5 years' minimum experience; ideally more
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
  • Experience supporting trade cycle process strongly preferred
