Position Purpose:To support strategic financial decision-making at Geisel School of Medicine through high quality financial reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
Bachelors plus 6 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:- Demonstrated ability with in-depth financial analysis.
- Experience in financial forecasting, projections, and creation of business models.
- Ability to prepare and present complex information in a clear, coherent way that supports fact-based decision- making.
- In-depth knowledge of Excel and standard desktop applications (Word, PowerPoint).
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently and confidently, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to deliver against multiple and competing priorities.
- Able to balance the need to deliver results both quickly and accurately.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Able to work effectively across schools, divisions, and functions. Inspires others through commitment, teamwork, and collegiality
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to present information concisely, clearly, and confidently to a wide variety of audiences.

- Experience in a medical school/hospital preferred.
- MBA or other relevant professional/graduate degree strongly preferred.
- Experience with Oracle financial applications (Hyperion budgeting tools) and SharePoint

Description:Data Collection, Financial Analysis, Financial Modeling and Recommendations
- Provides effective financial analysis, budget monitoring, and outreach for a portfolio of assigned areas
- Collaborates effectively with financial and non-financial staff across the division in the gathering, modeling, and analysis of financial and operational data.
- Supports the annual operating budget, projection and long-range financial planning processes with insightful financial analysis, sound assumptions and estimates, and firm recommendations
- Supports monthly and quarterly management reporting and analysis with insightful variance explanations and summarizations of risks and opportunities.
- Performs a variety of ad hoc financial and operational analysis to address questions and information needs from many constituencies (Board of trustees and Advisors, Geisel senior management, Geisel and Dartmouth College financial management, Geisel department fiscal officers, Dartmouth Health (DH) financial leaders).
- Identifies and researches appropriate sources of information to answer questions on a variety of complex, finance-related topics. Validates the integrity of data sources.
- Actively identifies areas where in-depth financial and operational analysis can lead to a deeper understanding of results, trends, risks, and opportunities. Consults with financial leaders to offer ideas and recommendations.
- Applies skills in financial modeling and statistical analysis to develop scenarios and to make recommendations
- Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive information and materials. Maintains manual and computerized records.

Description:Annual Budgeting Process
- Analyzes departmental and institutional spending as input for annual budget setting.
- Provides hands-on assistance throughout the budgeting process to department financial planners. Understands the needs of each individual planner and be available to work with each person to ensure individual budgets are created efficiently and effectively.
- Analyzes and assesses budget submissions of compliance with budget guidelines. Works directly with department administrative and financial staff to bring their financial plans in line with Geisel resource allocations and requirements.
- Communicates key aspects of the budget by creating a variety of budget reports and information tailored to the needs of different audiences.

Description:Funds Flow Management- Manages internal/external funds flow between Geisel and clinical affiliates for both compensation and non-compensation expenses and accrues expenses and/or credits as needed.- Serves as a liaison between the Geisel Fiscal Office and the clinical affiliates.- Maintains current list of graduate (PhD) students at Geisel School of Medicine and works with department administrators to charge tri-annual health insurance and access fees to appropriate accounts.

Description:Collaboration/Communication
- Collaborates and communicates effectively across all levels of the institution and with partner organizations.
- Partners with departmental representatives, both administrative and senior leadership, to prepare deliverables as requested by Fiscal Leadership.
- Prepares financial reports, presentations, and special projects for senior management and others. Reports may include financial forecasts, trend analyses, historical data compilation, ratio, and peer comparisons, etc.
- Participates with Geisel and other senior leaders in assessing financial and operational implications of proposals.
