PETROL, a leading full-service advertising agency specializing in progressive marketing for some of the biggest brands in tech, sports, and video gaming—among many more—is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst.
With dedicated departments for print services, motion graphics, AV, social media, interactive/digital, as well as media planning & buying, we regularly develop fully integrated global marketing campaigns for some major brands across genres.
OVERVIEW
Prepare internal and external financial statements and reports, create and maintain financial models and variance analysis for planning, budgeting and forecasting; perform research and analysis, maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, assist with audit preparations, and carry out other accounting duties as may be required.
In order to be successful at this role the candidate must meet the following requirements:
GENERAL ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS (30%)
• Perform general ledger account analysis of transactions and activity.
• Liaise with other departments responsible for activity – e.g. capital expenditure, insurance, travel, prepaids, other overhead.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintain supporting files such as fixed set register, insurance policies and prepaid tracking
• Assist with Monthly close, research of transactions, and reporting.
• Provide variance explanations on monthly Income Statement
• Prepare and manage monthly uploads and reporting in foreign-owner reporting system
BUDGETING, FORECASTING AND REPORTING FUNCTIONS (60%)
• Creating and maintaining financial models in Excel for various transactions and all general ledger accounts
• Assist with preparation of Annual Budget and monthly projections of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow into future periods
• Assist with monthly Budget vs. Actual analysis of transactions
• Maintain and reconcile a reporting template for our foreign owner’s system
• Uploading and manual adjusting in foreign owner’s system.
OTHER ADHOC FUNCTIONS ( 10%)
• Assists with internal and external audit requests and bank reporting.
• Liaise within Finance, other departments, executives, and foreign owners on research and information requests.
• Participate in continual process improvement regarding general ledger, data analysis and reporting. Serve as back-up for other Finance team members and perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies (essential functions of this position):
• Minimum- 3-5 years related experience.
• Required - Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including accruals and deferrals.
• Excellent English skills, for both written and speaking communication
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills٫ with accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong data manipulation skills, and Excel/Google Sheets skills including pivot tables, v and x lookup and index formulas.
• Strong work ethic and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and self-review of work with little supervision
• Highly organized with excellent time management skills, with abilities to handle tight deadlines that cannot move and work in a dynamic environments.
• Ability to be flexible as processes develop or change, or ad hoc requests are made.
• Great interpersonal skills and professional conduct and communication with various departments, executives, outside vendors, auditors, consultants., and foreign owners
• Excellent problem solving and research skills- identifies issues and potential solutions in a timely manner and works collaboratively toward efficient and effective solutions.
• A strong customer-service approach – managing difficult situations with tact and diplomacy and being open to feedback to improve service and abilities.
• Thirst for knowledge, contribution and desire for continuous improvement, automation of routine tasks, and finding efficiencies in processes.
