**This is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office and 2 from home
Student Financial Services Scope: 
Under the supervision of the Student Financial Services Supervisor, the Financial Aid Advisor / Undocumented Student Services Coordinator, will have the opportunity to directly support students enrolled in top-ranked graduate and professional programs, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Graduate Division. W Provide critical guidance on FINANCIAL AID options and important information on potential resources and will serve special groups such as DACA/Undocumented students and Guardian Scholars.
Manages the Institutional Work-Study program, from maintaining the policy and procedure manual to onboarding and hiring eligible students. Expected to work with campus and off-campus employers to create job opportunities and develop job postings, as well as track and review timesheets to ensure the accuracy of payroll.

Office of Diversity and Outreach Overview: 
The Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO) serves as the campus leader in building diversity in all aspects of the UC San Francisco mission through ongoing assessment, development of new programs and building consensus. We collaborate with the four professional schools, the Graduate Division, and the medical centers, to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across UCSF. 
The Vice Chancellor's Office of Diversity and Outreach (VCDO) includes oversight for the Center for Science Education and Outreach, Disability, LGBT, Multicultural and CARE Resource Centers, the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, and the direct administrative office of the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach. 
The mission of the Office is to build a broadly diverse faculty, student, trainee, and staff community, to nurture a culture that is welcoming and supportive, and to engage diverse ideas for the provision of culturally competent education, discovery, and patient care. Our priority is to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for diversity and outreach that supports UCSF's mission of advancing health worldwide, and the recruitment and retention of talented employees and students who contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
Financial Aid Advisor / Undocumented Student Services Coordinator is required to have:
  • Ability to interpret policies and develop procedures to ensure compliance with federal and institutional programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a good active listener, strong customer service, problem-solving, critical thinking, good judgment, and strong decision-making. Ability to assess processes, implement improvements, and excellent interpersonal skills to guide and counsel students to succeed in finding their personalized path to financing their UCSF education.
  • Knowledge of Federal Student Aid and University Financial Aid policies and regulations, State Labor Laws as it relates to work-study programs, some understanding of federal and institutional methodology for the processing and awarding of graduate funding, including Federal & Institutional Work-Study, CA Dream Loan, Federal Unsubsidized Direct, Graduate Plus, University, and Private Student Loans.
  • Ability to counsel students with budgeting, Federal, State, and institutional applications/FAFSA/CSS Profile, California Dream Application, refund disbursements, student-loan repayment, and areas related to successfully financing a graduate professional education.
  • Ability to define specifications for database selection sets for reporting, including strong proficiency with standard Microsoft Office programs, the internet, email applications, and a working knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs like Financial Aid Systems (PowerFAIDS/College Board/NetPartner/IDOC), NSLDS, COD, and other federal and state web base systems.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
