Summary of Responsibilities: The Financial Aid Advisor serves to support the enrollment/retention goals and objectives of the College. As a member of the Office of Financial Aid office, you are expected to provide superior student-friendly customer service and knowledgeable advice to students and parents on all aspects of Financial Aid including Federal, State, Institutional aid, loans, Financial Aid awards, billing, and payments. The person in this role may be asked to represent the College at various types of recruitment events, on and off campus from time to time. The Financial Aid Advisor reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid.

Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)

  1. Student-friendly customer service/advising:
    1. Supports the student recruitment efforts for all programs of the college by exercising strong student-friendly customer service skills, assist current and prospective students and parents in solving their education financial challenges through available Financial Aid resources including, Federal, State, and Institutional, loans, and student employment.
    2. Assists students and parents with understanding all aspects of the Financial Aid process, including the FAFSA application, various types of Financial Aid, important deadlines, Financial Aid awards, and questions related to billing.
    3. Serves as a primary point of contact to educate and advise students, parents, other departments and external constituencies for Graduate, Online Degree, and Center for Urban Biblical Ministry.
    4. Serves as a primary point of contact for the Tuition Exchange programs.
    5. Ensures students understand all policies and procedures related to their Financial Aid
    6. Responds to questions and other needs from students and/or parents through in-person meetings, letters, phone, and email in a timely and courteous manner.
    7. Counsel students and/or parents regarding their personal financial circumstances, thoroughly explaining the cost of attendance, funding options and alternatives, methods of payment and management of financial responsibilities.
  2. Program Management
    1. Serve as primary school liaison for Tuition Exchange programs, tracking applications and regulations for each program.
    2. Performs need analysis calculations to determine eligibility requirements to satisfy all federal, state and institutional regulations; determines award amount adjustments, changes, or corrections as needed.
    3. Assist in general endowment awarding alongside the Director of Financial Aid.
    4. Serves as the site administrator and primary contact for Trade Act benefits to certify and process those awards according to regulatory requirements, in collaboration with the Business and Registrar’s Offices.
    5. Attend training, workshops, and professional organizations to keep abreast of new information and program changes to be implemented for compliance with federal and state regulations.
    6. Maintains appropriate files, database systems and generates reports.
  3. Awarding, programs, and general responsibilities:
    1. Assists in the development, implementation, administration, and management of the Financial Aid programs that support the achievement of enrollment/retention goals in the academic programs of the College and actively participates, as requested, in assessing, improving, and maintaining the program(s).
    2. Assists with processing student Financial Aid applications, evaluating Financial Aid eligibility, and creating Financial Aid awards for students in the Graduate, Online Degree, and Center for Urban Biblical Ministries Programs.
    3. Provides compliance oversight and manages completion of the Federal FAFSA verification and invalid FAFSA records processes for students in the Graduate, Online Degree, and Center for Urban Biblical Ministries Programs.
    4. Assists in Financial Aid advising of the Traditional Undergraduate Program when needed.
    5. Serve as a liaison with internal departments (Admissions, Geneva Pittsburgh, and Business Office) providing a high level of customer-focused service in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
    6. Attends conferences and workshops specific to programs of oversite as requested.
  4. Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Financial Aid.
