Job Summary:
- We are a group of 2 well-established restaurants on Clement Street (Burma Superstar, and B Star Bar) and have around 100 employees.
- Reporting to the CEO, the Finance/Payroll Manager is a vital part of the management team and a key player to help navigate the business and control the Finance & Payroll function.
- This position supervises 1 AP Specialist and works closely with CEO and Restaurant Managers in a centralized headquarters office.
Required Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with bookkeeping, payroll system & accounting software (ADP Workforce Now, Quickbooks, Toast POS experience highly preferred).
- Great sense of numbers, attention to detail, advanced Excel skills.
- Highly organized & accurate, able to multi-task and set appropriate priorities.
- Show pro-activeness and ownership, willing to solve problems independently.
- CPA, bilingual (Spanish or Chinese) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Payroll/Insurance Management:
- Review employees’ timecards, and calculate meal penalties/split shift premiums/bonuses.
- Review all earnings data, post payroll data batch, and verify payroll register report.
- Prepare final paycheck and separation paperwork for terminated employees.
- Manage employee transportation voucher ordering and paycheck deduction.
- Accrue and track paid vacation hours for salaried employees.
- Lead the process of bi-annual pay raise review, assign a budget, and review with all people managers.
- Calculate employee working hours and make contributions to MRA accounts on a quarterly basis.
- Provide payroll data for workers comp annual auditing.
Accounting:
- Ensure all invoices are billed correctly and get paid in a timely manner.
- Reconcile 3rd party platforms’ payments vs statements.
- Resolve issues on lost checks, missing invoices, and billing mistakes.
- Ensure corporate credit card & cash expenses are categorized correctly.
- Process reimbursement requests (cell phone, gym membership, cash expenses).
- Support monthly closing with outsourced Accountants by providing required data.
- Perform monthly closing and file sales tax (after 90-day probation).
Financial Planning & Operations Management:
- Build up company annual financial plan and bonus schemes for manager positions.
- Monitor the business health by analyzing monthly financial results.
- Feasibility study to enable management decisions (product pricing/popularity, new revenue stream, etc.)
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through optimizing vendor sourcing, negotiating to price, reducing redundant services.
- Support negotiations with ordering/catering platforms on commission rates.
- Partner with Restaurant Managers closely and suggest practices which can improve restaurants’ efficiency in a cost-effective way.
- Renew business licenses and permits before the deadline.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Working schedule:
- Salaried position, 40+ hours/week (on-site).
- Monday to Friday, 09:30 AM - 6:00 PM (12:30-1:00 pm, lunch break).
