Finance Supervisor - Shared Services
The Finance Supervisor will provide accounting support for the Human Resources and Benefits team. This individual will be responsible for the accruals, reserves and unique accounting required for Best Buy's self-insured group benefits and Short-Term Incentive (STI) bonus programs. This role will have one direct report who supports the Human Resources and Community and Public Relations teams. The Finance Supervisor will work closely with others on the Corporate Capabilities Controllership team and partner closely with FP&A, Human Resources, Benefit Plan administrators, External Reporting, and external auditors.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you'll do

• Managing one direct report including review of their work and development of the individual.
• Performing month end close duties including preparing journal entries and reporting, analyzing variances, and performing account reconciliations.
• Testing and maintaining key SOX controls and corresponding IUC documentation for Process #3 - Bonuses.
• Identifying automation and efficiency opportunities and implementing more efficient solutions to enhance our accounting processes.
• Researching technical accounting topics as new benefits/programs arise, documenting conclusions and recommending accounting treatment to ensure internal and external reporting requirements are met.
• Performing special project work on new or existing benefit programs which are continuously being assessed by leadership and HR business partners.
• Providing input into budgeting/forecasting, assisting in identifying business risks and opportunities and understanding drivers of financial trends.

Basic qualifications

• 2 years of work experience in an Accounting capacity
• 2 years of Microsoft Excel experience

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting or related field
• In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of experience in accounting or related field (in addition to the work experience required under required qualifications for a total of 4.5+ years)
• Experience in applying GAAP to large company situations
• Experience with direct and indirect people leadership
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and internal controls, with an ability to identify and address weaknesses in controls
