Job Description
The Finance Manager reports to the Director of Accounting and supports the finance team with ensuring timely general ledger accounting and reconciliation for NPMA’s nine managed state associations. This position will also provide targeted assistance with financial reporting and analysis to support senior management as well as the operations of the finance team. As NPMA transitions away from association management over the next two years this position will have the opportunity to grow and become involved in the four core organizations to include the National Pest Management Association (501c6), Professional Pest Management Alliance (501c6), QualityPro (501c6) and The Pest Management Foundation (501c3).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Ledger Accounting and Reconciliation
- Prepare journal entries for month and year end closing.
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts.
- Process orders batches monthly. Reconcile the deposits in the bank, the payments in Sage Intacct and the orders in Aptify membership database.
- Reconcile joint membership dues for managed states and all intercompany transactions. Prepare check requests related to intercompany transactions in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements, investment statements and credit card statements. Upload credit card transactions into Intacct monthly for managed states.
- Maintain Prepaid schedule and fix assets schedule for managed states.
- Reconcile statement of financial position (BS) and Statement of Activities (P&L) general ledger accounts with Aptify database.
Budgeting for Assigned Affiliates
- Participate in yearly budget meetings for Association Managed States (AMS). Prepare templates for AMS manager to input budgets.
- Assist managed state association managers in the budget process.
Audit and Tax Reporting
- Participate in the independent audit process. Coordinate completion of requested audit items.
- Provide information required for preparation of required 990 IRS filings, for managed associations, as requested.
Others
- File annual reports for managed state associations
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the SVP Finance & Administration and the Director of Accounting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment (501c6 membership trade association).
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred), membership database (Aptify preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
