Finance Director

HOURCAR is a non-profit carshare organization dedicated to providing sustainable transportation solutions to our community. We are seeking a Finance Director to help us in our mission by being responsible for the good financial stewardship of HOURCAR. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our organization's mission by preparing annual budgets and medium/long-range projections, carefully monitoring HOURCAR’s performance against budget, and providing regular and detailed reports to the CEO and Board Finance Committee. The Finance Director will work closely with the COO on accounting and cost control, manage the Bookkeeping and Payroll Specialist to ensure timely and accurate month/quarter/year-end closings, and outside accounting firms on HOURCAR’s annual audit/single audit.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares annual and long-range financial plans

• Prepares and distributes the periodic financial statements, along with business insights, to management and as required by third parties

• Ensures that adequate liquidity is maintained

• Provides decision support to management and the Board of Directors

• In conjunction with the CEO, establishes and maintains effective relationships with financing sources, investors, insurance providers, credit card providers etc.

• Interfaces with the Company’s accounting services providers (auditors, processors, etc.)

• Execution of the Company’s strategies and technology to ensure the smooth operation of financial systems and processes

• Prepares business cases for significant proposed investments/grant proposals

• Establishes and maintains key business metrics to manage the business

• Hires, manages, and develops a supporting staff consistent with the finance function needs

• Technology skills commensurate with the Company’s financial systems platforms

• Experience in a finance role with a consumer facing business (highly desirable)

• Experience with Non-Profit accounting and other compliance requirements (highly desirable)

• Experience with grants management, especially federal grants, and single audits (desirable)

• Honesty and integrity

Experience:

• 8+ years in Accounting/Finance roles

• Accounting operations

• CPA or MBA preferred

• Personnel management
