Position (job title): Finance, Business Process Engineer
Department: Finance
Work Site: SSC South Portland
The Business Process Engineer will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives by working with various finance groups to understand and implement solutions to enhance the efficiencies of those functions through process improvement and using additional or improved technology. In this role you will act as the liaison between Finance and IT for system fixes, Business Process and systems improvement projects and upgrades
Responsibilities
  • Lead and facilitate processes with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify, design, propose solutions and alternatives, develop, test, implement and document improved processes in assigned finance areas.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Business Processes through strong communication with the various departments, reviewing process changes, attending training and shadowing where needed.
  • Participate in improvements/changes made in non-financial areas to ensure they are properly integrated and optimized with the Business Processes in assigned financial areas.
  • Act as the point of contact for business users in solving Business Process/system issues and as the interface with the IT department on behalf of the users in assigned finance areas.
  • Independently analyze a process, determine changes that should be made (for optimal efficiency, etc.), plan improvement projects, create & maintain project momentum, and execute according to project plans
  • Ability to gain buy-in from multiple levels of management
  • Identify, design and implement necessary financial controls in financial business areas and in other areas that affect financial reporting and financial controls

Qualifications Skills & Preferred License/Certifications
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience demonstrating capabilities to solve problems within a technical work environment (heavily depending on ERP systems).
  • Experience with financial modules of SAP (FI/CO) required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to identify and implement process improvements and to work in a team environment and within all levels of management.
  • Experience in a centralized function is a plus.

  • Other BI tools/analytics
  • Possesses and demonstrates leadership skills
  • Possesses knowledge of accounting principles in a computerized environment

  • Goal-oriented, a motivated self-starter, with excellent organizational skills, sound business skills and judgment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Possesses excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently, and ethically with both internal and external customers required
  • Experience in finance within a manufacturing environment is desired

Position to be based out of Sappi's South Portland or Boston office.
TRAVEL:
Semi-frequent travel to the SNA corporate office in SPO/Boston as well as other NA locations as required.
Infrequent international travel to Europe, South Africa, or other locations as required.
Salary is determined by a number of factors including the value of the job to the organization, market forces, internal equity and skills brought to the job.
