Global Kids, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant. The Finance Assistant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of daily accounting and bookkeeping tasks, as well as adhering to and documenting internal controls. Reporting to the Finance and Contracts Coordinator, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for supporting the mission of our nonprofit. Additionally, they must also demonstrate a high level of confidence and professionalism. This role presents a valuable opportunity for early career professionals to gain experience in multiple fields.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including invoices, receipts, and financial reports.
- Process accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle credit card transactions, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with payment processing regulations.
- Maintain vendor files, including updating vendor information verifying W-9 forms, and organizing contracts and agreements.
- Reconcile bank statements regularly to ensure accuracy and address discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Assist in conducting financial analyses and generating financial reports as required.
- Support grant management activities, including tracking expenses and preparing financial reports for funders.
- Assist in the preparation of financial information for audits and compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department as needed.
- And other tasks as assigned.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working in finance or accounting role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and compliance requirements.
- Experience with bookkeeping preferred.
- Analytical skills and proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) with an appetite to continually learn and grow.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks thoroughly and accurately.

Salary/Benefits:
This full-time exempt position has an annual salary of $40,000 to $45,000. GK also offers affordable medical benefits, dental, and life insurance as well as paid holidays, 12 vacation days (year 1), increasing thereafter based on years of employment, 3 personal days, and 8 sick days. Additionally, the GK offices are closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day. GK staff also have access to retail discounts and other benefits through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
