Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced individual to help take our machine shop to the next level by growing and maturing our operations. This person will report to our COO and wear all hats of the Finance and HR departments for our ~10 person operation. Nexus Automation is a longstanding CNC machine shop that is undergoing rapid growth and transformation under new leadership. This is a new position that you will be able to help define and create a finance department that will grow as our business grows. With your help, this shop will operate like a well oiled machine (pun intended).
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable: Review incoming purchase orders for accuracy and issue invoices. Create a credit check process for new customers. Follow up with customers about overdue invoices to ensure timely payment is made.
- Accounts Payable: Review and process incoming invoices to ensure payments are made in a timely manner. Complete credit applications from our vendors. Create new vendor onboarding process.
- Purchasing: Build and maintain relationships with our vendors and send RFQs out for bids. Create purchase orders and follow up with vendors to ensure we receive material and parts on time.
- Payroll: Run our semi-monthly payroll process for both hourly and salaried employees. Ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time. Run our retirement contributions process. Ensure our payroll is correctly accounted for in Quickbooks
- Human Resources: Help new hires complete onboarding paperwork. Ensure all employees complete trainings as required by law. Periodically review and update our employee handbook (approximately once per year). Coordinate safety and quality trainings.
- Bookkeeping: Ensure transactions are processed accurately and timely to keep our books up to date. Perform monthly financial close process. Communicate with our tax accountant on any questions
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in finance, accounting or similar positions
- Previous experience running payroll
- Previous experience with bookkeeping
- Quickbooks and ADP experience
- Able to work independently to identify and execute needed tasks
- High level of attention to detail
