Finance & Accounting Intern

We are looking for an Accounting/Finance Intern to join our team for the summer of 2024 at our headquarters located in Itasca, Illinois. The position will be exposed to essential corporate finance functions, including accounts payable, financial planning and analysis, general accounting, and treasury. The Accounting/Finance Intern will utilize strong accounting, financial reporting, and analytical skills to support the Prinova global corporate finance and accounting team. This role will support a variety of day-to-day accounting and financial reporting/ analysis activities and contribute to the monthly general ledger close process. Additionally, this role will support the global corporate finance team with various projects and initiatives as needed. Interns will be provided technical, soft-skill and on-the-job training.
Duties would include, but not be limited to the following:
- Generate daily, weekly and monthly reports and KPI’s for management that track the financial and operational performance of the organization
- Month-End Financial Analysis including sales variances, financial performance compared to budget and prior year
- Perform required monthly balance sheet reconciliations, researching and resolving variances
- Learn how to navigate and obtain data from ERP systems
- Prepare monthly journal entries, reviewing general ledger for accuracy and proper recording of transactions.
- Accounts Payable processes and procedures
- Participate in projects to streamline and improve current financial processes.
- Assist with special projects, as needed
Expected outcome of internship:
Intern will gain a hands-on entry-level experience and a solid understanding of a how a real-business Finance/Accounting organization operates on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis.
Qualifications:
- Rising college junior or senior pursing a B.S. in Accounting or Finance
- Detail oriented
- Proficient in the use of Excel (including pivot tables, V-lookups, etc.)
- Proficient knowledge of Accounting and Financial Concepts
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Possesses a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently/self-managed and in a team environment.
