Responsibilities include:
Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
Providing reliable day-to-day support to supervision and other employees on assigned activities, taking steps to expedite task completion when necessary and/or practical.
Professionally communicating with all project team members both internal and external. Successfully interacting with a variety of levels of leadership.
Identifying issues and working independently, where possible, to resolve issues in a timely manner with minimal assistance.
Managing time and priorities, and updating management on work in progress and any other applicable status updates.
Effectively building relationships across operations.
Providing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities and traveling to various off-site locations as well as client office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested.
Troubleshooting, repair, and acceptance testing of smart meter network communications equipment.
Perform testing of smart meter and smart network application systems, hot fixes, and upgrades.
Receiving, packaging, and shipping of network equipment to support the fulfillment of material to field locations.
Participating in meetings and workshops to provide subject matter expertise on Smart Meter network equipment related issues.
Providing intercommunication between Smart Meter Operation Center (SMOC), Network Engineering, Meter Engineering, and Field personnel.
Providing field support to Operating Companies throughout the Pennsylvania Service Territory.
Preferred qualifications for the Technical Specialist:
An Associate's degree in Information Sciences or Engineering Technology or related discipline along with 1 - 3 years of related job experience is preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants having additional multi-disciplined technical background in lieu of a college degree. Related experiences will include technical knowledge about metering and distribution systems.
Knowledge of how to interpret work requests, equipment instruction manuals and procedures to develop accurate work plans.
Knowledge of the purpose, function, and operating characteristics of electric distribution equipment and systems is a plus, as well as the ability to learn about construction methods, maintenance practices, service practices, standards, and procedures.
Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) along with the ability to learn SAP, GIS, Customer Request Work Scheduling (CREWS), and the outage management system.
Must be willing to learn and understand the Company's Accident Prevention Handbook and apply this to safety in the workplace.
Possess effective communication skills and conduct oneself in a professional manner.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to operate in a team or collaborative decision-making environment, possessing the ability to evaluate solutions and make decisions based on knowledge of work practices and consultation with supervision.
Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Must be able to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
Must have ability to be trained and perform fork truck operation.
