Field Technician
Location: Indianapolis, IN

First shift M-F is needed. Hours are approximately 7AM-3:30PM with some flexibility on start / end times

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set up and instrumentation of gas furnaces in laboratory test stands
• Queue, run and monitor tests as directed by engineers
• Use computer to collect, organize, and communicate test data to Engineers
• Follow procedure manuals to conduct, monitor, and analyze basic tests
• Modification and fabrication of test units and test setups as directed by Engineers
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:
• Under direct supervision, performs varied tasks of intermediate complexity
• Applies and develops basic skills to perform the position within assigned areas
• Uses existing procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to the position within assigned areas
• Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels
• Assists in some advanced tasks as part of training and development
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional specialized courses or short-term training (one year or less) with minimum of 3 years of experience; OR Associates Degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration) with minimum of 1 year of experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and gas appliances
• Mechanical Aptitude – use of basic hand tools in a lab environment
• Electrical Aptitude – electrical/electronic knowledge, able to read wiring diagrams and use a Volt/Ohm meter
• EPA Type II, Type III, or Universal Certification preferred
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
• Familiarity and ability to use data systems and databases
• Ability to comprehend and comply with EH&S Practices & Policies and Ethics Practices
• Experience working in a team and matrix environment
• Proven capacity to self-direct/motivate with a vision toward future goals
• Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Understanding and ability to use basic instrumentation
