Job Description
Summary Installs, terminates, tests, and troubleshoots communications/broadband/video systems by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Pulls cables, such as cat5, coaxial, twisted pair, optical fiber and other cable types, through conduit, aerial and buried. Also will pull/run lines in attics, crawlspaces, perform wall fishes working outside as well as inside homes and businesses.
Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains broadband/video systems.
Installs modular connectors for data and telephone users.
Terminates cable on cross connects, hubs, and routers.
Uses cable testing equipment such as Ohmeters, TDR's and other broadband test sets to troubleshoot problems.
Provides new users with cable and modular connections, and relocates cable connections for existing users.
Performs preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
Works with a variety of hand tools.
Telephone cable and fiber splicing.
Familiarity with telephone cable and fiber color codes.
Locates cables for the purpose of ensuring construction can occur without disrupting service to customers. Tasks may include operating the cable locator, flagging or painting locations, reading staking sheets, attending construction meetings, working with contractors, etc.

Other Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of basic electronics, specification sheets, and circuit diagrams.
· Knowledge of telecommunications plant equipment operations and maintenance.
· Knowledge of company products and services
· Knowledge of company policies and procedures
· Skill in operating service equipment including various hand tools and testing equipment.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets, and operating and maintenance instructions manuals.
· Ability to evaluate, test, and repair sophisticated equipment.

Must be able to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces, and at various heights up to forty feet in the air.
