Independent contactor Field Technician to support training, installation and maintenance of optical laboratory equipment for our optical lab customers in the Greater NYC area and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to customer inquiries and technical issues via email within 2 hours during regular business hours (9 am - 5 pm U.S. Eastern Time, Monday-Friday, excluding U.S. federal holidays).
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment faults, coordinating with our team in Israel when necessary, and be prepared to arrive at the US customer laboratory promptly at 8:00 am the following day for critical issues that require onsite assistance.
- Work closely with our team to estimate and allocate your time effectively, committing to a half-time job with a flexible schedule, averaging a few hours a week.
- Occasional travel to Israel may be required (1 to 2 visits every year with ~ 2 weeks per visit).
- Assist in setting up new laboratories, including connecting machines and conducting testing, typically requiring approximately 5 working days per lab – in other US locations.
Estimated number of new lab installations: 5 or so in the coming 18 months. - Receive guidance and training to become proficient in operating software and machinery.
- Provide technical support to customers, with most issues being resolved remotely through explanation or software updates.
- Ensure your availability during regular business hours, with no weekend work required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field Technician, or similar technical work, including customer interaction.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn how to operate various software and hardware with lens production machines of different types.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Spoken Hebrew a plus.
