Genex Systems is seeking an entry level or intermediate Field Survey Technician to support Johnson Space Center, in Houston, TX.
Position Description
The Field Survey Technician supports site field data collection working with the Team Lead, Measurement Technicians, and GIS Analysts to collect data throughout Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX. The Field Survey Technician will:
Collect field data using GIS hardware and software as directed by Site Lead
Field verify interior floorplans and facility layouts
Develop and update GIS feature data from various information sources, including hand drawings, survey documents and data, and historical documentation
Work independently and within a team to collect field data on larger projects
Must be able to lift 50lbs, throw/ raise a ladder/ climb up and down
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to:
Use Field Survey hardware and software to collect data points, lines, polygons and associated attribute data
Work independently to complete tasks in the field, sometimes with little supervision
Take direction and follow written and verbal instruction
Interpret and take data from hand drawings and other historical documentation to support field data development
Perform Logical Quality Control to field data collected, ability to self-correct is desired
Utilize a variety of computer hardware and software applications and office equipment such as desktop and laptop computers, ESRI software such as ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD software, Trimble Survey software, large and small format printers, and MS Office Products
This position is located on site at NASA JSC and requires the candidate to regularly work on site. Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced setting, multitasking ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid driver's license, and pass a background investigation.
