Field Supervisor for Coatings Projects
Vanwin Coatings performs corrosion control work on Fuel Tanks, Pipelines, and Aircraft Hangers on military bases, as well as other Industrial sites.
Description: Vanwin Coatings is seeking an experienced working supervisor local to
Chesapeake, VA or willing to relocate. Candidate must be able to:
- Supervise & direct crews onsite. Manage and train craft workers;
- Communicate closely with Project Manager daily;
- Able to work with budgets (manhours/materials/schedule);
- Travel (30-60 days or more at times);
- Be a hands-on working supervisor, when needed;
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees;
- Must have a clean background for access to Military Bases
Qualifications
- Well organized;
- Knowledge of paint materials and documents (PDS/SDS);
- Knowledge of equipment (mechanically inclined) – set up/troubleshoot/maintain:
- Blast pots: 8-ton/600 lbs;
- Vapor Blasting: 8-ton/600 lbs;
- Spray rigs: airless/plural component/conventional;
- Dust collectors; 5K to 20K
- Hurricane 500 industrial vacuum;
- Compressors: 375-1600CFM;
- Generators: up to 200KW;
- JLGs/Forklifts/Scissor Lifts.
- SSPC CAS/C14/C3/C7/NACE Level 1, Osha 10 or 30 – or willing to obtain w/ 2-year work agreement;
- Computer & tablet literate (Word/Excel/PDF) for safety/quality/production reports;
- Communicate with customers and attend onsite meetings;
- Knowledge of scaffold & containment erection / qualified erector a plus;
- Estimating skills a plus;

- Epoxies, Organic and Inorganic zinc coatings, Polyurethane, Urethane
- Mil-Spec Coatings
- 2 and 3 part epoxies, Coal Tar epoxy, Fast Clad
- Blast material including Garnet, Black Beauty, and Crushed Glass
Expected Actions
- Adhere to safety procedures
- Conduct onsite Safety Meetings
- Climb ladders and scaffolding
- Paint all kinds of steel and metals from pump units to beams and other structural surfaces
- Apply safe waste disposal procedures
- Use hand or power tools
- Protect surfaces from blast damage and overspray
- Operate and troubleshoot blast and spray paint equipment
- Properly mix coatings
- Move or lift heavy objects
- Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor
Compensation
- $30-$40/hr commensurate with capabilities (or salary + bonus potential);
- Medical/Dental/Vision insurance available after 90-day introductory period;
- Vacation: 40 hours after 1-year/80 hours after 2 years/120 hours after 5 years;
- 3 paid personal days after 1 year;
- 6 paid holidays after 90-day introductory period.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
