Responsibilities:
- Responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Prepare for on-site installation, service and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.
- Travel to customer sites as required, ensuring startups and/or service occur promptly. (Travel to be limited to approximately 25% overnight travel with a maximum of 50% in a months time.)
- Perform duties as required to startup or service standard products and ensure the product meets the specifications of the project and the expectations of the user.
- Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products at customer's location.
- Startup and service units in a safe and secure and confidential manner.
- Evaluate (research) and diagnose problem situations with installed units to discover and resolve the issue (or to support other technicians and customers in resolving it); i.e. evaluate, diagnose, and fix. (Do not leave job site until unit is 100%; or, at a minimum, inform customer as to plan of action.)
- Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed.
- Provide technical support to customer.
- Keep current on all company products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair. Keep abreast of changing technology in the industry and attend training as necessary to achieve technical competency on all product lines.
- Assist in the development of standard O&M manuals for all current and new products, including troubleshooting guides. This includes assisting in the design or modification of test report forms for proper startup of equipment.
- Diagnose and repair units using hand-tools; follow design prints or engineering specifications; inspect and maintain company tools and test equipment.
- Make good use of company assets, including expenses to travel. Prepare travel authorization forms and expense reports.
- Manage customer related issues on assigned projects to insure highest levels of customer satisfaction and meet overall project or task objectives.
- Provide back up telephone support to customers technical needs when required.
Qualifications:
- Able to skillfully use: Power tools (electric and air), drill press, band saw, hand tools, step ladder scaffolding, tape measure, design prints. Test equipment; i.e., Voltmeter, Voltmeter, CO tester, Manometer, Tachometer, Dielectric tester, and other testing instruments as necessary.
- Able to work with these materials: Galvanized sheet metal (20-12 gauge), fasteners, miscellaneous hardware, lumber, stretch wrap, plastic sheeting, fiberglass insulation, and miscellaneous internal components (fan motor, blower, vent glass, etc
- Must have a valid drivers license and proof of personal auto liability insurance.
- International travel may be rarely required, must either have or can acquire a valid passport.
- Able to explain technical information in common language. This includes responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers; includes effective presentation of information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Outstanding mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Able to solve problems independently while in the field. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Willing to travel and work independently in the field - willing to perform in a position that requires overnight travel 25% of the time, and up to 50% at times. Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.
- Positive interpersonal skills and attitude - to handle customer relations issues on the phone and in the field while installing or repairing units.
