What You Will Do:
Individuals will be responsible for using a data driven approach, gathering data from residential and commercial gas meters for our customers.? Meter reads are collected by driving by customer locations.? The reads are downloaded into the data driven computer system mounted in the vehicle.? Daily reads will be uploaded to the utility's server for metering and billing processes.? This position is primarily a driving position however, employees may be required to get out of the vehicle to provide a "visual read.? This would require walking to the meter, providing a visual read and uploading to a handheld device.? Perform other duties as assigned.??
Main Duties:
Reading meters and entering readings into handheld computers.
Prior meter reading experience helpful but not required.
Extensive driving throughout Charleston metro and surrounding areas.
Meet strict deadlines for completing meter reading routes.
No experience necessary, paid training is provided.
Ability to walk in all types of terrain.
Work in all types of weather conditions.
Ability to deal with wildlife and animals is required.
Work Requirements:
· Must be at least 20 years of age.
· Must possess a VALID, unexpired driver's license, must have 3 years of driving experience.
· H.S. Diploma or GED equivalency required.
· Must be proficient in using technology.
· Must adhere to safety requirements & have customer service experience and
· Must have respect for customers and their property.
· Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and walk several miles per day.
· Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, background, and MVR check.
Job Details:
Full-Time; Monday-Friday 7AM to 5PM
Physical Requirements:
Bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking several miles per day; carry up to 20lbs of equipment; be able to effectively communicate with customers in a courteous manner displaying excellent customer service and perform other duties as assigned; Performs all work in a safe manner; Observes and follows all company/client procedures; Possess excellent customer service/communication skills; Be available for overtime (which may include weekends); Be comfortable using computers/technology.
What You Will Earn (Pay & Benefits):
The pay is $15.00 per hour to start. The hourly rate will increase to $17.00 per hour after training. (training is approximately 2-3 weeks) Benefits: Company Vehicle, Medical/Dental/Vision Plan, Paid Time Off
