Purpose of the Role
The Field Service Technicians is responsible for providing onsite/in-field technical support, troubleshooting network issues as well as ensuring the smooth operation of our customers’ network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of networking principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities include:
- Respond promptly to customer request for onsite/in-field technical support, diagnose and resolve network-related issues.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their unique requirements, provide tailored solutions to meet their network needs.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to identify potential network vulnerabilities and propose proactive solutions.
- Install, configure, and optimize network hardware, to include: routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to plan and execute network installations and upgrades.
- Testing and validation of newly installed or upgraded network components.
- Diagnose complex network problems by analyzing network traffic, logs, and configurations.
- Implement effective solutions for network issues, ensure minimal disruption to customers.
- Provide comprehensive root cause analysis reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware updates, patch installations, and system backups, to ensure the ongoing health and stability of client networks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, installations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Create detailed reports on service activities to include: summary of onsite/in-field visits, resolutions implemented, and recommendations for network enhancements.
- Provide documentation and training on basic network troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
- Act as a resource for customers, answer questions and provide ongoing support for network-related inquiries.
- Foster positive client relationships by delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to discussions on network trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Mentor junior technicians and share expertise to enhance the overall skill set of the team.
Qualifications:
- An associate degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field
- 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Network Technician or in a similar Field Services role
- Proven understanding of networking protocols, routing, and switching
- Demonstrated background with network hardware to include: Ciena, Nokia, or similar equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional organization and coordination skills
- Ability to multi-task and effective problem resolution skills
- High level of professionalism
- Demonstrated punctual with good attendance
Additional Skills/Certifications:
- Experience in Telecommunications, Internet Service Provider or Wireless industry is a plus.
- Fluent in Spanish or other languages is a plus (multilingual or bilingual)
- Relevant certifications: CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), experience working with Ciena equipment, a plus.
- Understanding of GPON technology
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
