Biolog is a leader in microbial identification, phenotypic cell profiling, and metabolic fingerprinting for microbial and mammalian cells. The main office is located in Hayward, CA. The company’s products enable the identification of thousands of species of bacteria, yeast, and fungi as well as characterization of human cells and mitochondria. Our Lab Services site is located in Delaware; formerly MIDI Labs, an innovator in microbial identification, we currently offer contract laboratory services for microbial identification and enumeration to deliver critical, time-sensitive ID for pharmaceutical, probiotic, food and beverage, and personal care manufacturing operations using sequencing and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Biolog products are available worldwide, either directly from the company or through its extensive network of international distributors.

What is the Job all About?
- The Field Service Engineer-WEST is responsible for after-sale engineering support and on-site engineering services in the West territory.
- Based in San Jose, CA or close by, the incumbent will train at Bay Area locations and fulfill Field Services in a group of western states and Canadian provinces. 50-90% travel in the US and Canada will be required.
- Field Service Engineering helps enable our customers’ success and helps grow the Biolog business each year.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill on-site services including installation, validation, preventative maintenance, and repair.
- Maintain individual customer records in ERP/CRM System and fulfill work orders.
- Provide remote technical support via email, phone, and remote access.
- Make efforts to increase the business by explaining services and advantages.
- Conduct in-house performance testing and preventative maintenance as needed.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree in engineering or related field.
- Experience in the use and service of hardware/software systems in life science tools.
- Experience in instrument repair.
- Skilled in productivity tools including MS Outlook, Zoom, Team Viewer, Slack, etc.
- Excellent time management skills and scheduling ability.
- Proactive and positive team player with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience performing Field Service in GMP labs a plus.
- Knowledge of Microbiology a plus.

Additional Information:
The western territory may extend as far east as Ohio. Occasionally, travel may be required to other states or international locations.
