Field Operator

Ground / Water Treatment & Technology (GWTT) has an immediate opening in our Operations & Maintenance Services Division for a full-time Field Operator with 3-5 years of relevant Process and/or Water Treatment experience. The right individual will be dependable, self-motivated and a team player with excellent communications skills. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to perform the work responsibilities summarized below. All candidates should have good problem-solving skills, along with strong communication skills. An Industrial Treatment License is preferred but not required. The Operator, under the supervision of a project manager, is accountable for operating various types of process equipment and systems used to treat contaminated groundwater, leachate, and other industrial wastewaters. The amount of supervision required depends on the complexity of the sites and experience level of the Operator.

• Out of town travel will be required to support projects across the US, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

• Records operational data, meter, and gauge readings on specified forms.
• Operates, inspects, adjusts, and monitors process equipment, meters, gauges, and controls to detect problems/malfunctions and maintain proper level of equipment operation and system performance.
• Operates and adjusts controls on equipment to treat air, water, groundwater, wastewater, industrial wastewater, and leachate.
• Collects samples and test water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater samples.
• Uses computer based maintenance management program as part of workday; prepares basic reports and communications using computer programs, skilled in using Microsoft Office.
• Provides oversight for and/or performs process control testing and field-testing of water, soil and air samples as required.
• Performs process calculations required for the proper operation of equipment, including but not limited to chemical dosage rates, biological loading, clarifier operation, sludge generation rate.
• Add and adjust process chemicals feeds for various chemicals including but limited to acids and bases, oxidizing agents, coagulant, and flocculants using mixers, pumps and metering devices.
• Maximize Plant/System run time and maintain detailed work records, including system logbooks in a legible manner.
• Responds to alarms for emergencies at various facilities/systems, as defined by client contracts.
• Performs preventive maintenance using hand tools, power tools and/or precision equipment in accordance with O&M guidelines and requirements.
• Oversees off-loading of chemicals and changeover of chemical containers.
• Conducts inventory of all chemicals and supplies daily/weekly. Notifies project management staff when chemical orders are needed.
• Assists in maintenance of the WWTP, which may include tearing down and repairing sludge pumps, chemical pumps, valves, plugged piping, cleaning clarifiers and containments.
• Must have a flexible Work Schedule, OT, and weekend shifts and out of town travel will be required.

• The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Wastewater License or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
• OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper preferred; training will be offered to the right candidate.
• Must be proficient with MS Office.
• 3 – 5 years of related work experience.
• Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record and must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
