Salary:

Natural Habitat Adventures (Nat Hab), a Boulder, Colorado-based adventure travel company focused on nature and wildlife, is seeking a Field Operations Coordinator for Alaska programs. The Alaska Field Operations Coordinator is a member of the Adventure Operations team. This position is primarily responsible for the logistical execution of the Alaska programs, working closely with the Alaska team to set up the season, overseeing Field Operations for all Alaska programs, and mentoring Field Operations staff in Alaska while the season is running.  This position works closely with the Alaska Adventure Director and Operations Coordinators, third-party partners, field staff, and the Field Staff Department.  

 

Responsibilities 

Pre-Season  

  • Facilitate meetings with partners to enhance relationships and establish expectations  
  • Hiring and training
  • Develop a comprehensive schedule for the movement of seasonal Field Staff 
  • Manage travel arrangements for Field Staff, including flights and hotels 
  • Coordinating reservations for transportation, meal, activity, and other partner reservations and logistics if necessary 
  • Oversee all national and state park permitting needs for the summer season 
  • Work with Fulfillment Department to order necessary equipment for the season 
  • Organize pre-season calls with all necessary stakeholders 

    During Season   

    • Field Staff Support  
    • Oversee Field Operations, and logistics for all Alaska programs  
    • Manage Field Staff in partnership with the Field Staff Team 
    • Address issues on trips with partners and Field Staff if they arise 
    • Ensure Field Team is informed about trip logistics prior to each departure 
    • Update Field Team as changes occur  

      Post-Season 

      • Collaborate with stakeholders on itinerary adjustments for future seasons 
      • Review and consolidate Field team evaluation comments for end of season debrief  
      • Conduct debriefs with the Field Team to discuss improvements for next season 

      *Additional general, Quality Control & Inventory Management tasks

       

      Skills and Qualifications 

      • Three years of experience in operations and/or project management 
      • Highly organized and detail-oriented; capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines 
      • Demonstrated leadership experience 
      • Proven success in positions that require grace and decision making under pressure 
      • Effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders and partners 
      • Basic understanding of logistics and data management 
      • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel 
      • Experience with project management software and databases is a plus 
      • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a team 
      • Adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines
      • College degree preferred 
      • Excellent driving record 
      • Solid familiarity with Homer, AK  
      • Applicant must reside in Alaska, Homer Alaska residents strongly preferred 

       

      Compensation 

      This is an exempt position expected to be full-time from March through October and part-time (20 hours per week) from November through February.  It will be necessary to work on weekends and after hours at various times during the full-time period. 

        

      Compensation commensurate with experience.   

      Starting salary range when full-time: $55,000 to $60,000  

      Starting salary range when 20-hours per week: $27,500 to $30,000 

       

      This position comes with generous PTO and paid holidays (prorated during the part-time periods). Benefits include site inspection on Nat Hab trips, pro deals on outdoor clothing, and branded gear. Eligibility for medical insurance, participation in 401(k) with company match and parental leave after a predetermined period.  

       

      Travel 

      In addition to the benefit of having 2 weeks of site inspection on Nat Hab trips where one is a participant on a scheduled program, this position may be required to travel approximately 2-4 additional weeks a year to Boulder, Colorado and throughout Alaska. 

       

      *This position will require you to travel to Colorado no less than three times a year for in-person meetings, company-wide events, & job-specific tasks.
