Field Interviewer

Non-Exempt (Temporary)

POSITION SUMMARY

Decision Information Resources, Inc. (DIR), is seeking self-motivated, outgoing individuals located in Denver, CO, or surrounding cities to conduct 45-minute surveys with local teachers from December 2023 through January 2024. Surveys are being conducted as part of the Building and Sustaining the Early Child Care and Education Workforce (BASE) program. This Colorado-based initiative aims to understand factors affecting child care and early education workforce dynamics. Its primary objective is to assess the effects of a salary increase pilot program on employment, economic, and well-being outcomes for lead and assistant teachers in early child care facilities. Interviewers will be responsible for both locating and conducting surveys with sampled teachers. Successful candidates will be available to work 15-20 hours per week for the seven-week duration of the project – including a paid 3-4 day training in early December. Hiring is subject to successfully passing required background checks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in project-specific training to learn how to conduct teacher surveys in accordance with study data collection protocols; pass project certification.
  • Locate study participants in-person at their home, school, or childcare facility, conduct surveys or encourage participants to complete the survey online, and clearly track progress in the project’s case management system.
  • Collect high-quality data following study protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with study managers about progress on assigned cases and participate in scheduled team meetings.
  • Accurately maintain case records and timecards.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to listen and build trust and rapport with study participants; strong emotional intelligence.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible, multi-tasking, and team-oriented working approach due to the changing nature of the work and engaging study participants.
  • Ability to professionally handle unexpected or difficult situations when interacting with study participants.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong computer proficiency; ability to learn new software.
  • Good problem solving skills

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and two years related work experience, ideally conducting social science or school-based surveys.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable insured automobile and the ability to travel locally.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations: Lift and carry 20 pounds of equipment and materials; walk two blocks; and climb a flight of stairs while carrying equipment and materials.
  • Reliable access to a secure high speed internet connection.
  • Evidence of your identity and authorization to work in the United States (I9 documentation).
  • Ability to pass a required background check.
